New High Paying Jobs and Industry in Mesa
Quietly and steadily, high paying new jobs have been flowing into Mesa. At Falcon Field, Duke Technologies relocated their headquarters from Southern California to Mesa. In the same area, Tempkin, Inc. moved their high tech ballbearing production Company from Ohio to Mesa. Sabena Airlines training Center moved from Brussels, Belgium to Mesa to use State of the Art Simulators as well as small training planes to train pilots for KLM and even the Airlines of India.
At Mesa's Gateway Airport (now known as Phoenix/Mesa Airport), passenger flights are leaving for Las Vegas, and thirteen other new cities and destinations including Peoria, Illinois and Des Moines, Iowa. And with access to the new 202 freeway, the southeast area of Mesa is becoming increasingly easy. Very soon, more flights will be added to Mesa Gateway airport which amazingly, uses three runways that are actually longer and covers more area than Sky Harbor Airport.
The ASU high tech Polytechnical Campus is located on Williams Gateway with about 8,000 students. Within a few years, this Polytechnic Campus is projected to educate close to 30,000 students per year. Since this area was formally an Air Force Training Base, all revenues generated on the Airport must remain on the airport and not revert to Mesa Government.
Cessna is now building a new jet repair facility at Mesa/Phoenix Airport which will provide high paying employment for over 100 new employees. Embraer, one of the largest manufacturers of jet engines, has just recently moved to this Airport. Just south of this area next to the large TRW airbag manufacturer facility, a new high-tech clean technology electric steel mill is being constructed in Mesa. This site will generate over 100 new jobs with the average wage of $65,000 per year.
Banner Desert Hospital at Dobson and the 60 freeway has also invested nearly $200 million in new construction and high-end medical jobs. They are spending $40 million to refit the former Banner Mesa downtown hospital into a state of the art medical technology building with more than an estimated 1,000 high paying jobs. The $250 million of private investment into the Waveyard Resort at the 202 and 101 freeways is also expected to bring more jobs to Mesa.
One of Mesa's goals as a City has been to provide good jobs locally for our residents to reduce commuting and increase the quality of life for the residents. If we can keep developing into a City where we can live, work , and enjoy leisure activities - Mesa will be an exceptional place to call home.
