Mesa Is Completing a Modern Transportation System

Traffic and business is beginning to flow in Mesa. The new 202 freeway recently opened from University to the newly renamed Phoenix/Mesa Airport. The McDowell Road bridge near Power Road (over the yet to be completed 202 freeway) is now finished and open to traffic. The 60 Freeway was widened to five lanes leading to the eastern border of Mesa. Attracted by this new transportation system, companies are relocating to the Falcon Field and the Phoenix/Mesa Airport areas.

By connecting our freeway system to the rest of the East Valley and by capitalizing on our airports, Mesa is poised to become a vital economic force in Arizona.

Expanded passenger and cargo flights are beginning to branch out from our airports. Allegiant Airlines announced plans to fly passengers to thirteen Cities from Mesa's Airport. Major employers such as Cessna, Embraer, Timkin, Duke, CMC Steel, and Sabena have recently relocated and expanded facilities around the airports. The average wage for most of these employers is over $65,000 per year. Mesa has 39,000 residents less than Atlanta, but the reputation of our community as the 38th largest City in the United States is just beginning to reach outside of Arizona's borders.
