Safety First
We’ve made some good progress here in Mesa in reducing crime, but we still have
work to do. While violent crime continues to drop, we are still experiencing property
crimes at a "big city" level. As your next Mayor, public safety will be
my top priority. I believe that every citizen of Mesa has a right to live in a safe and
secure neighborhood.
As Mayor, I will push to dedicate more resources to our police department to hire
more officers and increase patrols. I will also work to implement innovative policing
strategies which enable our officers to promptly target and crack down on areas
of growing crime.
Any city's top priority should always
be for the safety and well-being of its residents. As your next Mayor, I will work
diligently to establish Mesa as a city with the safest streets and neighborhoods
in Arizona..
Jobs and Economic Development
As a city, Mesa has much to offer. We should be able to attract and keep businesses
that provide good paying jobs for Mesa residents and foster an environment of success.
As your next Mayor, I will use my extensive background and experience as a successful
businessman to reach out and strategically market our city to businesses seeking
to relocate. I will also work to improve our business climate and to ensure that
starting or relocating a business in Mesa is a simple, modern and successful process.
Taxes and Spending
Mesa has one of the lowest municipal tax levels in the country. As a member of the
City Council, I worked to keep it that way by ensuring that each and every one of
your tax dollars is spent wisely. I believe that government should be frugal with
your tax dollars and focus it’s spending on things that are important to you and
your family such as public safety, transportation, and parks.
As Mayor, I will work to keep our city budget under control. There is simply no
reason why government should not spend your money wisely.
Revitalizing Mesa
Mesa has always been a good city. We continue to grow because people recognize that
Mesa is a good place to live and raise a family. However, the last several years
have seen the deterioration of some areas of our city.
As Mayor, I will make the revitalization
of these blighted areas utilizing private investment as one of my top priorities.
The failure to revitalize these areas will only hurt our city. We simply cannot
ignore the fact that some of our neighborhoods and commercial areas have seen better
days. We must recognize that turning these neighborhoods and commercial areas around
will only improve our city as a whole and help to reduce crime.
