The Mayor is elected at-large from
the entire city. With recent legislation, Mesa's 2008 election for Mayor and Council will take place
during the spring election cycle. A Primary Election will be conducted on March 11, 2008. Any candidate who receives 50% plus one of the vote will win that election making a runoff election unnecessary.
If no candidate wins 50% plus one of the vote, a runoff or General Election will be held between the two top candidates from the Primary Election.
That runoff or General Election will be held on May 20th, 2008.
** Important Update ** Because none of the candidates in the race for Mayor received 50% plus one of the vote, there will be a runoff election between Rex Griswold and his opponent.
